Authentic Latin/Caribbean flavors prepared fresh with quality ingredients.
Sofrito is the aromatic cooking base at the heart of Caribbean cuisine, and at Touch of the Caribbean, ours is crafted with a blend of fresh herbs, peppers, garlic, onions, and bold spices to bring authentic flavor into every meal. Used at the very start of rice, beans, soups, stews, proteins, and vegetables, our Caribbean sofrito cooking base layers rich, savory flavor without the chopping, measuring, or guesswork — making it easy for home cooks to create deeply delicious dishes. Made in small batches with care and rooted in Latin/Caribbean and New York City culinary traditions, this sofrito is the foundation for flavorful meals anytime you want real, vibrant taste.
Sofrito is used at the start of a dish to build flavor. A little goes a long way.
As a cooking base
Heat oil in a pan, add 1–2 tablespoons of sofrito, and sauté until fragrant (about 1–2 minutes). Once aromatic, add rice, beans, meats, seafood, vegetables, soups, or stews and continue cooking as usual.
As a marinade
Sofrito can also be used to season proteins and vegetables before cooking. Coat chicken, pork, seafood, or vegetables with sofrito and let it rest for at least 30 minutes (or longer if desired), then cook. It infuses flavor while keeping food tender and juicy.
For extra heat (optional)
If you enjoy spice, add a finely chopped chili pepper or scotch bonnet when sautéing the sofrito, or blend a small amount into the sofrito when using it as a marinade. A little goes a long way and allows you to control the heat to taste.
Use it to start the dish or to season what you’re cooking—either way, the flavor is built in.
Rice & Beans
Start your pot with sofrito, then add rice, beans, and broth. The flavor builds instantly.
Chicken or Pork
Sauté sofrito, add protein, season lightly, and cook until tender and juicy.
Vegetables
Use sofrito as the base for sautéed greens, peppers, squash, or roasted vegetables.
Soups, Stews & Chilis
Begin every pot with sofrito for added depth and richness.
